Mobilizing the Faithful: Health

This workshop seeks to engage faith communities in exploring the health and wellbeing of African Americans in St. Louis and why it matters to everyone. This workshop is based on the 2014 landmark For the Sake of All report, which examined the unequal distribution of health in the St. Louis region using multiple sources to demonstrate a relationship between race and outcomes in health and well-being.

The presentation offers an opportunity for faith and conscience communities to learn about the data and findings from the report, reflect on those findings in the light of wisdom from world faith traditions, and respond with concrete action steps based on the report’s six recommendations.

Mobilizing the Faithful: Housing

This workshop explores the 2018 Segregation in St. Louis: Dismantling the Divide report which details the extensive history of segregation driven by policies and practices across multiple sectors of society, and segregations’ systematic exclusion of African American families from areas of opportunity that support positive economic, educational, and health outcomes.

The presentation offers an opportunity for faith and conscience communities to learn about the data and findings from the report, reflect on those findings in light of their own faith and/or conscience tradition, and respond with concrete action steps based on the report’s recommendations.
